Wedding Photographers Waterford – Golden Moments Photography
Chris and Rebecca knew each other since they were teenagers but it wasn’t until one St. Patrick’s weekend that they realised there could be more there.
They pursued a long-distance relationship for six months before Rebecca moved from Waterford to Dublin to be with Chris.
They were together three years before becoming engaged. This is their story…
‘We had spoken about marriage briefly,’ Rebecca said, ‘but I was still bowled over when he proposed!
‘It was the weekend of my birthday. Chris actually blindfolded me and took me out to Faithlegg for Lunch while we were home in Waterford! I didn’t know until we arrived that he had booked a suite for the night too.
‘I thought this lovely night away was due to it being my birthday so when he got down on one knee in the middle of the suite (both of us in bath robes) I was genuinely shocked and wasn’t expecting it at all!
The couple chose to get married in Faithlegg House Hotel because it held special memories after the proposal and because it’s such a ‘beautiful venue’.
Rebecca explained that they planned everything themselves and admitted that she was delighted that Chris was quite a ‘hands-on groom’!
‘He was amazing at helping,’ she smiled. ‘He attended 90% of the vendor appointments and once we moved back to Waterford from Dublin it made planning at lot easier.’
The bride-to-be found her dream dress in Bijou Bridal in Tramore, Co. Waterford.
‘I loved my dress so much,’ she enthused. ‘It was by the Spanish designer Pronovias and was a fit and flare with a long train.
‘Quite plain but with the smallest amount of embellishment and Chantilly lace.’
The wedding day dawned bright and clear and Rebecca declared that they ‘genuinely had the best day ever’!
‘It was surreal that we had gotten to the day which we had been planning for almost a year and 3 months,’ she said.
‘The love we felt from everyone was incredible and we were so happy to be finally married and to share the day with our family and friends.’
She recalled that the build up to the ceremony was ‘an incredibly emotional and nervy experience’ but that it ended up being amazing.
‘Apart from the ceremony, our band Smash Hits stole the show,’ she recalled.
‘Myself and Chris are 90’s kids so it was no question when it came to picking a band. They had the floor filled from the second they started until they finished!’
When it came to suppliers Rebecca and Chris couldn’t speak highly enough of their photographer Alan of Golden Moments Photography.
‘Our wedding photos are amazing and some of our favourite shots of the day we were unaware that he was even there snapping away!’ Rebecca laughed.
They also cited Limelight Videos, Utopia Flowers and Enchanting Brides Waterford as hugely helpful both on and before the big day.
‘Looking back, I don’t think we would have changed a thing,’ Rebecca said happily.
‘There were one or two very minor things on the day – like forgetting our family photos for the cake table – but on the day, you just laugh those things off.
‘You can’t control everything!’
As for tips for future brides and grooms, Rebecca concluded that what people tell you really is true!
‘So many family members and friends told me to enjoy the day and take in every second as its goes so quick and that is 100% true,’ she exclaimed.
‘Take some time just to take it all in and take some time for you and your husband to have a few minutes together. Remember that its both of your day!’
